Science vs. Religion

Today I want to talk about humanity's constant search for the truth when it comes to the man upstairs as well as the mysteries which went into creating the universe. I doubt there is anyone in this generation even though they have tried, who can say they have solved these mysteries through scientific observations. However, what we do have are general hypothesis as well as discoveries by men such as Albert Einstein just to name a few who set out on amazing ventures putting us a little closer to enlightenment. In more recent times, there has been an elite few who have set out to raise the bar in creating devices and instruments on the scientific side of the spectrum to hopefully reveal certain truths. As adequate and helpful some of these discoveries might be, if put under a microscope the slightest failure can result in a catastrophic and ultimately destruction of the universe as we know it.

Let's take for example the Hadron Collider, which can be found in the depths of an underground tunnel in Switzerland. This 1.7 billion dollar European Instrument is the largest. most powerful piece of scientific equipment ever devised by man. Covering some 27 Km in circumt~rence, it is designed to take Hadrons, large chunks of sub-atomic matter that used to belong to full atoms, spin them up to speeds approaching the speed of light through a tunnel coated with magnets. It is then cooled to the coldest temperatures on earth, and smashed together in a test chamber in an effort to see what happens. This smashing together of atoms liberates huge amounts of energy, but is fortunately so small that the energy doesn't wipe out half of Switzerland. Or so they might think. Quite simply put. this machine seeks to recreate what scientist think has actually occurred in the creation of the universe and even further thinking that it would someday open the clouds creating a pathway to heaven.

On the religious side of the spectrum, I was always told from inception that similar to a car or any type of machinery the human existence should be guided and govern by an instruction manual. In this manual lies all the explanations and mysteries of the world and its magnificent Creator. This is where the problem arises. Many people cluestion the account of activities written by men who were simply inspired by the man upstairs. Some say that this book 'The Bible' is nothing more than the writings of simple men and throughout the passage of time have filtered down from generations to generation translated into different versions. How then does an instrument such as this still have the capability to guide the entire human race? The mere fact that God holds the title of infinite wisdom and knowledge should dawn on our intelligence that he wouldn't allow interference with the instrument which guides his people. Omitting this important part of the puzzle can over time result in a breakdown of certain parts of the vessel which we call mankind. Take a look at the great nation of America for instance, who has completely omitted the bible as well as prayers out of their educational system. This act seems to have sparked a flame of rebellion through the fabric of youth in the society resulting in a series of unfortunate events in the last few years.


From day to day this constant struggle exists in the minds of everyone as some lean in one direction or another trying to pin point the truth about existence. While others omit to jump on the band wagon of either side trying to stay neutral in this constant tug of war as to who is right and who is wrong.
